Orion Bay, the current neighborhood featured on Bold n Simful, is actually the second neighborhood to grace the blog. The first, Westerville, was my very first attempt to publish a story around my sims. A major game meltdown caused the closing of Westerville and out of the ashes came Orion Bay.
I had only been sim blogging for about 3 months when the meltdown happened, but I learned a lot (not nearly enough) in that short amount of time. A few of the things I learned:
- Few families, much drama helps move the storyline along faster
- Integrating the family’s story lines helps create a neighborhood atmosphere rather than feeling like each family lives in a bubble.
- While playing the game, take many, many pictures even if I don’t know why at the time, they may come in handy later.
- Don’t plan ahead. Who knows what wacky thing a sim will do that will lead to a new story line? or a comment from a reader may take the story in a whole new direction.
Most importantly, I learned that I actually enjoy telling stories about my sims, it makes the game more fun to play.
The blog is by no means a literary work of art, but I hope you enjoy it. Comments, feedback, criticisms are always welcome and very much appreciated since it is through comments that I’ve gotten a lot of story ideas.
