An Ugly Rumor?

While chatting with a friendly GameStop employee over the weekend, he mentioned that he had heard that EA is making Sims 3 Vista compatible only??? Is this just an ugly rumor?

What about those of us who have resisted Vista? My pc is barely a year old, I’m not going to upgrade just for Sims3, I may want to but my wallet will not let me.

The official Sims 3 site says nothing about platforms, please say it isn’t so!

Blogger is acting up, but I’m sure you recognize me. ;)

I hope NOT! I have Vista but, still, thats not fair to everyone else! My school laptop is gonna run XP, what freshness?! I hope you’re right that its just a rumor! >:(

Wait, who are you? jk :D I hope it’s just a rumor, especially since I’ve seen the latest screen shots and now I can’t wait for the game to come out!

Don’t fret, it likely just means Sims 3 will be DirectX 10, which is anticipated for all games releasing now that are graphically intensive. Those games can STILL be played with XP, but you won’t get bombastic graphics because Dx10 is the ‘wave of the future’, graphically, and you’ll eventually need to buy a Dx10 compatible card and bite the bullet and get Vista. Most games that have been released or are being released on PC require Dx10 to make use of the best graphics while others are being patched to utilize Dx10. It’s no big deal. Just the step up, which has been coming since Vista and Dx10 were announced awhile ago. :)

The Sims 3 will probably be extremely intensive, though, both on processors and graphics… so those with low-end or medium-end computers that are a year or so older may not even be able to play the game. We’ll have to wait and see. To be honest, I’ve not even looked at anything Sims 3 related since I saw the awful models they’re using. Blech.

Ah, so the mystery is solved and if that is what EA decides to do, it looks like I’ll be buying Sims 3 when it is packaged with 2 other EPs for the low, low price of 30$ :) I just saw a Sims2 package in GameStop for $20! I hate when that happens lol

What don’t you like about the models? The screenshots of downtown even had my hubby saying “wow”

They look too generic. They look like any random person in the background from any other game or even a football player from madden. Just way, way too generic. But that’s what you get–this was made entirely by EA Games… not Maxis. Sigh.

Well that explains why hubby was so impressed, he can get lost in Madden for hours :D
